Friends Only

It just fucking hit me that I am in the process of helping to create an album. That people are going to buy. Touring was one thing, because I have my gigs in the city that people come to, so I'm used to playing my mus for peeps, even if doing a metal concert is very different from a lovely gig in Trafalgar Square. But I have never ever had imput on something that was recorded and existed for people to play in their homes. Well. Besides the DVD and the live stuff...

It's weird. It's a heady feeling, but kind of frightening as well. Like...if I write shitty shite Spectre and his drogies might kick me out for being derivative or un-Prog, or all-around lame... Not that I think Spectre and his drogies are like that...

It feels a bit like responsibility. Which I'm actually good at when it comes to me, and a staff of thirteen at Mariposa. But being responsible to people...and to thousands of people all over the world? (I even have to friends-lock this because people read this now. I have fans...)

Holy.Fucking.Shit.

I promise to never say the music is derivative or un-Prog, or all-around lame. (I know nothing about prog so you can be sure on that middle one!)

Haha! Well we have a deal then! Thanks, Audrey. It's just weird because I'm me and not this...person other people see. Wow, that doesn't make sense, but it does...

I think that's how all the famous people probably feel. They're all just human! And now you get to be one of them as well and complain about your adoring public :)

[identity profile] rubyredstained.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I won't complain! It's just dreadfully strange. Luckily I have very supportive band members and awesome housemates!

Want to put bras all over the living room to freak Razvan out?!

OH HELL YEAH I AM SO THERE!

You freaking rockstar. Crazy days.

[identity profile] rubyredstained.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh fuck me, I don't know how to handle this. I signed on because why the fuck not, yeah. And I was buds with Flynn. Touring was awes, but this is different.

Though it IS really cool to see Spectre work. He's still healing but he just tells Flynn what to play and it's awesome. He's quite the genius.

I do hear he's quite the master, so you must have done something well to be his Gal Friday there.

Awww! Way to a girl's heart, Isla! Flattery!

Are you going to the anniversary party at Spectre and Thomas' on the 18th? I have NO IDEA what to wear, but Lavinia told me to bring my sexy self...

...have you ever met Lavinia?

[identity profile] un-amour-fatal.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I know my way around a girl's heart, what can I say?

I'll be there, yes, but I don't know what I'm going to wear either. Rhi and I were thinking of going shopping this weekend to look.

I know Lavinia, yep! She's great and doesn't hold it against me that her husband was a cheating bastard. Which is good, you know?

[identity profile] rubyredstained.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Own it!

You're all organised. I don't usually attend anniversary celebrations. I don't know people who are married.... Fuck, that's weird...

It's pretty darn good! Lavinia is awesome. You've got a great family.

[identity profile] un-amour-fatal.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it'll be much different from any other sort of love-celebration. I don't really know married people either. My mother didn't hold with institutions of any sort.

I really do. I'm pretty lucky.

[identity profile] rubyredstained.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
My father died when I was a baby and my mum is a lesbian. Not that she doesn't have anniversaries, they just don't celebrate them because 'time is man-made and arbitrary'. She's kind of a wingnut, but she's my wingnut.

I'd damn lucky too.

[identity profile] un-amour-fatal.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Mothers can be crazy, I know mine always was. She was a lot like me in the obvious ways but less so in that she had an impressive capacity for violence. (Never towards me though! My mum loved me like mad.) So wingnut probably beats out crazy-woman-who-thinks-she's-a-god. (Seriously, I adore her but she's really old and sort of nutty.)

[identity profile] rubyredstained.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! Yeah, wingnut only ever does things like setting my formal dress on fire with her ritual candles. I wore the dress anyway of course, because the burned bit only made it better!

I think I'm part wingnut too!

[identity profile] thetimewehave.livejournal.com 2010-04-18 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think it is a bit like responsibility, but I reckon when it comes down to the bones of it, so long as you're being responsible to yourself and the band everything else is gonna follow along, maybe sometimes like a screaming toddler but.

You know what helps with the overbearing weight of responsibility though? Wine. And Thai food. Green curry. It helps.

[identity profile] rubyredstained.livejournal.com 2010-04-18 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
I hope so. Because I'm always responsible to myself when it comes to music and I think that's why I got the place in the band because all the others are too. They're all WAY talented enough to be doing more mainstream stuff if they wanted too (which would mean doing less complex stuff, strangely enough) but they love this kind of music so much. They meaning we. We love it, which is why we do it. And I think if anyone is going to get that, it's you. My wonderful, stalwart Leon. I pretty much love you.

Want to indulge after bras?
